THINK ~ PAIR ~ SHARE
The
Think ~ Pair ~ Share strategy give students who have difficulty decoding words
or struggle with comprehension the chance to work with a partner. It can be used before, during, or after
reading. The following is one version of
Think ~ Pair ~ Share. There are many
variations to found on the Internet.
Steps to Think ~ Pair ~ Share:
THINK:
1) The teacher poses a question or a prompt.
2) The students are given time to think about the question/prompt.
PAIR:
1) The students “pair up” and talk about their responses.
SHARE:
1) The students “pair share” their ideas with the
larger group.
This strategy encourages collaboration in the classroom. This is skill that students will use
throughout their lives!
